“It’s also hypocrisy to mock the winner based on her skin color” – Daniel Regha chides Burnaboy for shading Miss South Africa

Daniel Regha slams Burna Boy for a scripted, half-baked apology

Popular Twitter influencer Daniel Regha recently stepped into the ongoing discourse about the recently crowned Miss South Africa, and his attention was directed at Burnaboy, who shaded the reigning Queen.

In his brief but concise post, Daniel Regha wrote;

“A deaf woman just won Miss South Africa for the first time, that’s a show of representation & inclusivity;

Daniel Regha chides Burnaboy.

What happened to Chidimma is unfortunate, but it’s also hypocrisy to mock the winner (Mia) based on her skin color.

That’s subtle racism, & the very same thing we are trying so hard to end.”

Recall that Burnaboy had shaded South Africans for crowning a Caucasian, after rallying for the disqualification of a Nigerian contestant.

Burnaboy seemed amused over the fact that after removing Chidinma from the contest because of her Nigerian roots, South Africans still crowned a Caucasian.

The whole drama with Chidinma and South Africans started when they created an entire campaign, asking that she should be removed from the competition, citing that she wasn’t fully South African.

Chidinma later withdrew from the competition, and this made Nigerians upset, which created a whole debate on Twitter, with both countries going at each other’s necks on their keyboards.

Nigeria and South Africa have a friendly feuding history, which has sometimes gotten violent, with the killings of quite a number of Nigerians a few years ago, and it was termed as xenophobia.

The rest of their feuds has been over surface matters like who has the best music and men.

At some point, South Africans even accused Nigerians of stealing their popular ‘Amapiano’ music style and claiming it to be theirs.

During the AFCON games, both countries were heated against each other, but their football feud with Nigeria didn’t beat the one Ghana had with Nigeria.

Nigeria was surrounded by African countries, who they had continuously trolled online, and those countries celebrated when Nigeria didn’t take home the trophy.
