“She was such a beautiful soul” – Mercy Aigbe, Bimpe Akintunde, others mourn TV presenter and singer Lara Odubo

Celebrities mourn Lara Odubo

Nollywood stars like Mercy Aigbe, Bimpe Akintunde and more have mourned the demise of prominent television presenter, actress, fashion designer and singer Lara Odubo.

Kemi Filani reported that the multitasker died on Saturday, July 28th, 2024. The sad news was made known by blogger Temilola Sobola. Though the cause of her death is unknown, reports claimed that the entertainer had been ill for some days before her passing.

Taking to her Instagram page to mourn her, Mercy Aigbe, who seemed to have been close to her, expressed sadness over her death as she stated that she was still in denial over the news. Bading her farewell, she wrote,

“Hmmm! Life. Still in denial. Adieu Omolara”.

Taking to her comment, the likes of her husband Kazim Adeoti, Bimpe Akintunde, Toyin Adewale and Fausat Balogun joined her in mourning the dead.

Bimpe Akintunde wrote, “Hmmm. Still in shock. RIP, Aunty Lara was such a beautiful soul

Toyin Adewale wrote, “Hmmm. Oga o. Ha, May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace, IJN

Fausat Balogun wrote, “May her soul rest in peace”.

Lara Odubo will add to the growing list of celebrity deaths this year. Last month, it was a black Sunday as veteran Nollywood actress Stella Ikwuegbu was announced dead. The sad news was made known by movie producer Stanley Nwoko, otherwise known as Stanley Ontop, via his Instagram page. He revealed that the actress left the world on Sunday, June 16th, after battling with leg cancer.

A week before her death, the Yoruba Nollywood industry was mourning as they lost one of their veterans, Dayo Adewunmi, popularly known as Sule Suebebe. The actor died in the early hours of Wednesday morning, June 12th, at an undisclosed hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State. The news of his demise was made known by Ibadan-based cleric Pastor Ademola Amusan, aka Agbala Gabriel, who had been caring for the ailing actor for months.
