“Stop the emotional blackmail. Celebrities are human, just like you” – Saidi Balogun stands with Toyin Abraham amidst Nollywood silence

Toyin Abraham and Saidi Balogun

Veteran Nollywood Saidi Balogun has stood with his colleague Toyin Abraham Ajewole amidst his other colleague’s silence on the actress’ challenges with trolls.

It is no longer news that Toyin Abraham is being trolled online and bullied for arresting one of her trolls and leaving him in police custody for some time.

One of the trolls came online to accuse the actress of detaining his mother, a claim the actress denied by stating that the said mother refused to leave the police station due to her son’s arrest.

Reacting to the news, Saidi Balogun slammed those trolling Toyin Abraham even when they committed the same errors.

The actor turned politician claimed everyone used the police to arrest their neighbours for the smallest offence but made it a bullying case when it involved a celebrity.

Balogun spoke on behalf of his colleagues who are being emotionally blackmailed because they are celebrities, saying they should be free to take actions without judgment since netizens are free to speak.

“You use police to arrest your neighbours for the most minor reasons, e reach celebrity turn, you say it’s bully.

Stop the emotional blackmail. Celebrities are human, just like you. You are free to say what you like, right? Let celebrities be free to take whatever actions to protect their mental space. Freedom should not be selective. God bless”

A few hours ago, Kemi Filani reported that Toyin Abraham’s bullies took a new turn when they reported her movies on Netflix, and Wikipedia tagged her as a bully.

A social media user shared a screenshot of his letter to the streaming platform, in which he urged everyone to follow in his footsteps. In the letter, he urged the streaming platform to boycott her movies and expressed how such mistreatment is disheartening, especially considering the diverse and inclusive content that Netflix is known for.

The netizen urged Netflix to take a firm stand against such behaviour and demonstrate a commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all its audiences.
